2018 Opel Insignia SUV Design - The 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show, which recently took place, has revealed many interesting models. And the German car maker has presented the new 2018 Opel Insignia SUV. The sedan version has been introduced last year, so now was the time for its SUV sibling.

The upcoming Insignia SUV will borrow some design cues from the sedan model so it should arrive with handsome and attractive styling. The interior design should also go into the same direction and we expect well equipped and luxurious cabin.  According to the latest news, it should also offer more space for the passengers but also improved cargo space. Furthermore, the new Opel will arrive much lighter than before, which should affect general performance of the vehicle. As well, it will offer one gasoline and one diesel engine under its hood.

2018 Opel Insignia SUV engines and performances

Like we have previously mentioned, the 2018 Opel Insignia SUV will arrive with two types of engines. The base engine will be a 2.0-liter inline-4 gasoline turbocharged unit. This one will be able to generate 256 horses and the torque of 295 pound-feet. The next version will be a 2.0-liter inline-4 turbocharged diesel. This engine will have the output of 206 horsepower and 354 pound-feet of torque. The first option will be quicker than the diesel unit. It will be able to hit 62 mph in 7.5 seconds. The top speed of new Opel will be limited to 152 mph. Both engines will pair to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The front-wheel drive system will be standard while the all-wheel drive will be available as well.

Design of exterior and interior

Speaking of the exterior, 2018 Opel Insignia SUV will look attractive, muscular and very handsome. Its design will be borrowed from its sedan sibling. The front fascia will look similar to the one of sedan version and feature black grille and a pair of elongated and large headlamps.  They will be available with LED matrix lights which will provide great visibility. Furthermore, it will ride on 20-inch wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport tires.

As well, the new Insignia SUV will arrive with reduced weight. It is going to be lighter for around 441 pounds. This will improve performance, handling and the most important fuel efficiency.

Inside, the 2018 Opel Insignia SUV will also appear with more spacious cabin than before. This means more comfort for all the passengers. The seats will be available with heated function too. As well, the cargo space will be larger and with the folded rear seats, it is even better. The dashboard will be redesigned and will feature the new touchscreen with infotainment system which supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

As for the technology, the new Opel will be equipped with many modern features. Some of them will be 360-degree surround view camera, adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, lane keep assist, rear cross traffic alert and so on.

Release date and price

The 2018 Opel Insignia SUV has just been presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show and it should go on sale in following months. As for the price, nothing is yet said, but we assume that it should be around $30,000.
